Halloween – Physically Challenged

disabled-signHalloween is upon us but I wonder if anyone has given a thought for those who are physically challenged or who have some form of physical disability. And what about the aged? I did a quick search this morning on google and while many websites have offers for those less fortunate than ourselves in the way of reduced venue fees, special access facilities, costumes etc. there was no mention of giving a though to those who may be at home alone. Many of us take for granted the ease at which we can get around. Getting up to answer the door 10 or 20 times tonight may not be more than a small irritation (if you are not participating in the holiday) when the neighbourhood kids come “trick or treating”. For many out there who are not agile or physically mobile may be a major issue. Lets give a thought to those who may not be able to answer the door with ease or want to be disturbed.

Happy Holidays

Halloween

halloweenAs Halloween approaches I thought I would put pen to paper. This year (2008), we see Halloween falls on a Friday.

As most of us know it is a Holiday celebrated on the 31st October each year in most Western countries, but is it a pagan or Christian holiday? It could be said that both sides (Pagans and Christians) are associated with Halloween. The closest Christian tradition seems to be All Saints Day (1 November) and the Celts celebrate Samhain. Samhain is the festival that is celebrated at the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture. It combines with aspects of a Festival of the Dead and is popularly regarded as ‘The Celtic New Year’. In contrast All Saints day is celebrated by Read the rest of this entry »

Tarot Interpreted – What is Tarot?

Tarot is an ancient art of divination. Originally playing cards were used with the 4 suits of Diamonds, Hearts, Clubs and Spades eventually becoming the 4 suits of the Tarot – Pentacles, Cups, Wands and Swords.

I use Tarot and other cards such as angel cards, crystal cards and Kabalah cards as a tool and an aid while channelling. While the graphic representation of each card is important, higher guidance adds a depth to a reading that one simply cannot “pull out of a hat”. It is not necessary for me to have the Querant (person for whom the reading is done) actually touch the cards or be present. As the Reader I am merely a channel and I focus on the questions or messages. Read the rest of this entry »

The Secrets of Numbers

Have you ever wondered what Numerology is and how it affects us? Numbers have personalities that suggest particular potentials, influences and possibilities. Discovering and learning about your Life numbers is an exceptionally powerful tool. Not only do you obtain an understanding of why you are like you are, why you react like you do, but knowing where you are in your life cycle will help you make the right decisions about everything in your life. Knowing when to charge ahead and when to be still, understanding why you feel stagnant or even why you feel energetic is all part of it. Understanding your partner and children’s numbers will give you greater insight into who they are, what makes them tick and how you can all fit better together. Numerology also holds your hand through the cycles and pinnacles in your life, and in so doing, gives you a prediction tool. Numerology is all about the connection between who you are and who you will become. Calculate your life path number and then read the short corresponding profile.

Winter in Scotland

They say that when you don’t know what to talk about, you should talk about the weather. My need to talk about the weather today is quite genuine though. I am looking for some good advice on how to survive my first winter in Scotland.

At the moment, I am finding the crisp daytime cold rather refreshing but then I realise that it is still only autumn and I wonder if I am going to make it through till summer.

One of my dogs (a miniature Daschund – with the typical Daschund attitude) seems to have decided that summer will come soon enough if he sleeps enough.

I have asked around and everyone tells me that it’ll be snowing within the week – if not on my doorstep, then most certainly in the Scottish Highlands, but that once it snows up there, it’ll not be long before the snow is on my doorstep.  The Weatherman seems to think so too.

So, any advice?

Crystal Skulls

Now this subject seems to have reached a peak again. I watched a documentary last night that proved conclusively that the skulls that were discovered  and subsequently exhibited in museums around the world) in the late 19th century are all fakes including the Skull of Doom.  The documentary clearly states its case but I cannot help wonder how believers in the skulls must feel. Many people have believed in the myth of the skulls for years and have attributed many powers to the skulls.

What is your opinion about the skulls?

A Familiar Topic

I bought a book in a local bookstore a few days ago. It was called “Practical Feng Shui, Symbols of Good Fortune” by well known author, Lillian Too.

My interest in Feng Shui started many years ago and, for quite a while, my home and garden was Feng Shui friendly. Then one day, I moved home and never quite got to plan and re-decorate according to the Feng Shui principles I had become familiar with.

I bought the book on impulse and have read it from cover to cover already and plan on welcoming Feng Shui back into my home over the coming months.

Since my initial interest, I have come across many differing opinions, but mostly people seem to think that Feng Shui is difficult to understand and difficult to introduce into one’s home.

What do you think about Feng Shui? Is it something to take seriously or can you not imagine a dragon on your East wall nestled amongst your “anything but Chinese decor”?

Cleaning and energising crystals

When people talk about cleaning crystals they mean clearing the crystal’s energy and helping the crystal’s unique vibration to resonate effectively.

Start by washing your crystals in warm soapy water to get rid of a any grease or grime. If you are lucky enough to find a crystal in it’s natural environment you may want to keep any sand that was on the crystal for this will retain a little of the natural surroundings it was found in. Gaea – Mother Nature

Gaea is Mother Nature (Mother Earth). In Greek religion and mythology, she is the daughter of Chaos, both mother and wife of Uranus (the sky) and Pontus (the sea).

Among Gaea’s offspring by Uranus were the Cyclopes, the Hundred-handed Ones (the Hecatoncheires) and the Titans. To Pontus she bore five sea deities. Because Uranus had imprisoned her sons she helped bring about his overthrow by the Titans, who were led by Kronos. She was worshiped as the primal goddess, the mother and nourisher of all things. The Romans identified her with Tellus.

I chose the name Gaea’s for my website because she symbolises all the things I wish to bring together in providing a spiritual place that bears gifts, heals, teaches and may one day be able to provide a sanctuary

Pendulum Dowsing

Pendulums have been used for centuries. They come in various shapes, materials and sizes. Like choosing a Tarot Deck, the choice of a pendulum is very personal.

A pendulum is simple enough to use and anyone can develop the art of dowsing with a pendulum. As an esoteric tool the pendulum is design to give direct YES and NO answers to a question.  Read the rest of this entry »
