When something is so wonderful that it feels as though it cannot be true, we describe it as Magic. The word symbolizes something that is both emotional and spiritual. It’s Emotional because you feel with intensity and it’s Spiritual because you understand that the Universal power and energy is involved somehow.

Most people want to love and be loved. Most people have looked for a love spell at one time or another. There are many love spells out there – and you can find just about all of them on the internet, but take a moment and consider that casting a spell is a magical procedure that manifests your intentions. Just because you can do it, does not mean that you should do it.

Remember the basic law of “do unto others as you would do unto yourself”. You would not want another person to force you to do something against your will, so please, don’t force someone else. You do not have the right to change people or their actions, their feelings or their minds. You should not endanger yourself and you do not have the right to endanger others. I see that a lot of people have read the numerology blogs on Obama and McCain. I prepared those profiles a day before the election, and I could see in an instant why Barack Obama was going to become the next president. It was not that John McCain was any less a worthy candidate than Barack Obama, it was not quite in his numbers.

More people are familiar with Astrology than they are with Numerology. We grow up with Astrology all around us and each one of us has come across someone who has classified people according to their star sign. I often ask people what their birth date is. A quick calculation helps me understand that person enough to be able to communicate better with them. You can do that same quick calculation to help you understand other people better. How often do you feel that the only way you can communicate with someone is in the same bad way that they communicated with you?

How many times have you wished that you had communicated with understanding or grace instead of in the rude way that you did.

How much simpler would it be to be kind and courteous? Think about that for a moment.

Every time someone is rude, respond with grace. Every time someone says something hurtful or unkind, respond courteously; and whenever someone is really out of line, smile at them and move on.

Whenever you respond “badly” to others, you take on part of the other person’s psyche’ and you absorb their negativity or their rudeness, their insensitivity and their bad manners.

Rather be nice today, and if you are one of those perpetually rude horrible people, take it one day at a time and just be nice today and then just be nice tomorrow and in no time at all, you’ll be quite a nice person to be with.

I often give a client a crystal when I do a personal reading for them. During the past few weeks, I have given out more Turquoise crystals than any other. I don’t consciously decide which crystal to give a client, but when I see a pattern like this, I figure there is a message in this somewhere – perhaps even for someone reading this blog.

Turquoise is both a protective crystal and it enables verbal communication. I thought I’d write up some information on this very special crystal.

General information

Turquoise crystallises in the form of masses, stalactites, veins and occasionally in short small brilliantly coloured prismatic crystals. My dreams lately have all been about new things. When I say new, I mean that the objects or the main them of the dream itself is new. The meanings of these “new” dreams are puzzling me, so I thought I would share my thoughts on dream interpretation with you and ask you what you think.

Our unconscious mind is like another person inside us who knows us better than we know ourselves. We communicate with our unconscious mind through imagination, thoughts, feelings and dreams. It’s Sunday evening where I live and I am feeling rather philosophical, so I thought I would take a little bit of time to tell you the story of how the name of my website came to be.

I was on the look out for names a few years ago, as I was about to open a gift shop. I had names like “The Wagging Tail” (which would have been named after my wonderful Daschund) and “The Little Shoppe” – some corny names, others great. Then my (wonderful) husband suggested Gaea’s Gifts.

It was the most appropriate name as I was planning a range of wholistic and natural (as possible) range of gifts. When I say natural as possible, I must say that I soon realised that not everything is “real”. Anyway, part of the gifts in my shop was to be tarot readings, numerology, channelling and discussion groups. So the name was appropriate for both the actual gifts in the store as well as the gifts that I was busy tuning into. Read the rest of this entry »

The next step after defining Wicca in my mind, was to find out about the festivals or celebrations that one hears about. I have recently moved to the UK and somehow don’t believe that Wiccans dance naked in the moonlight in this cold or in the rain.

Wiccans celebrate 8 festivals as a means of attunement to the regular seasonal rhythms of nature. The festivals are also called “Sabbats” and is represented in the following wheel:

31 January: Imbolg, Oimelc, Brigit or February Eve

21 March: Spring Equinox or Ostara

30 April: Beltane or May Eve

22 June: Summer Solstice, Midsummer or Litha

31 July: Lughnasadh, Lunasa or Lammas

21 September: Autumn Equinox, Harvest Moon

31 October: Samhain, Sowyn or All Hollows

21 December: Winter Solstice or Yule

I will research each of the festivals listed above, but for now, I have the calendar. I have also noticed that Full Moon and the New Moon is also acknowledged, to a greater or lesser degree.

I have noticed a little discrepancy in my readings. Imbolc is listed as a Festival held on 31^st January. I came across some text that said that Imbolg is actually held on 2^nd February. Can someone explain the discrepancy?

Magic or Magick – some people prefer to add the “k” to the spelling of the word to differentiate it from stage magic (illusionism). I was discussing the definition of magick earlier today with a client and we thought that it could easily be related to the Law of Attraction or otherwise known as the Law of Intent. The Law of Attraction, I am sure you know by now, is a natural universal law and is as old as time. If you have read “The Secret”, you will know that the Law of Attraction is said to be the biggest secret of all.

Basically, by defining magick within the scope of the Law of Attraction, you are creating magic by keeping a dominant thought in your mind which will, sooner or later manifest. So, each time you use this particular law of the Universe properly, you create a magical spell.

Here’s the thought that we were pondering – what is the difference between praying, saying an affirmation or casting a spell? These are all activities that state an intention. Once you have stated an intention, given it a little focus and imagined the emotion of that intention coming true, then your prayer will be answered, your affirmation will yield a result or your spell will have worked.

Is magick simply the expression of yourself?

Much has been written about the Universal Laws and especially the Law of Attraction. I am still amazed how many people misunderstand the way these laws work and don’t work. The subject is nothing new, but it was once again popularised by “The Secret”. Many of the people I spoke to after they had read the Secret (or watched the DVD) were other jubilant or despondent. This was because many people went from a state of believing everything thing they wanted would be instantly given to them if they believed hard enough. While belief is a major part of the way the Law of Attraction works it is a bit misleading. One needs to be emotionally attached to that belief.  The other problem that caused a major misconception was the belief that everything would be granted instantly. Read the rest of this entry »
