What is it with Teenagers and the Truth?

TruthFor those of us who have teenage children, the question of lying or dishonesty is often a problematic one. A recent Cosmopolitan article stated “that all teenagers lie” and suggested that as a parent we should not be too confrontational with our teenage children when this occurs. They said that to confront the teenager on the spot would lead to more aggression and aggravate a potentially already volatile situation. Further suggestions are made to try and deal with that aspect of lying in a more subdued matter such as “dealing with the topic of the moment at a later period when you can discuss the situation when the teenager is in a more receptive state of mind.” We bring our children up to tell the truth, however sometimes now it seems that this lesson is sometimes forgotten when they reach the age of 16 or 17. Confucius is purported to have said “if a man has seven children, he will tell you of the seven different ways of how to raise children”. While it is true for most that the teenage years are turbulent and a time of change, many teenagers and children turn into adults that we, as parents, can be proud of.

There is another truth in life and it is this “we teach other people how to treat us”. Therefore by allowing our children to lie to us at any stage we are condoning such behaviour. What we are in fact teaching is “it’s okay to lie to me or anyone else for that matter if you think I do not need to know the truth.” Many may take the moral high ground and rely on religious teaching to find a benchmark. Many scribes and scholars, rabbis, ministers and priests are divided on this issue. The hardline approach of being black and white is that one shouldn’t lie! However after some further study it is interesting to note that in the old Testament there are a number of situations where one is permitted to lie. Read the rest of this entry »

2010 Predictions

Here’s some reading for you on New Year’s Day – thought I’d have a look around on the internet and see what psychics, corporations and others are predicting / have predicted for 2010 – firstly have you worked out to say it?

Are you going to say twenty ten or two thousand and ten? They say “older people” will say two thousand and ten because it’s the more correct form whereas as younger, trendier people and others will say twenty ten. Me, I’ve been saying twenty ten – not because I’m younger, trendier or other, but simply because everyone else says it – much easier sometimes when everyone is saying the same thing.

There seems to be 2 common themes to the predictions I came across – the first being that World War 3 will start in 2010 and the second that the world will become more whole and more conscious.  I vote for the “whole world” theme. Also, there are some great IT trends to watch.

I love the following prediction “Barack Obama expresses an interest in holistic healing and ‘world healing’ becomes a dominant theme and key phrase to his 2010 speeches. He brokers a historic deal between Israel and the Palestinians”. I think Barak Obama has an extraordinary role to play in the world we live in if he can rise to the challenge. Dandelion – Taraxacum officinale

Dandelion flowersI encourage dandelions to grow in my garden, but I noticed during the week that they seem to have taken over certain areas of the garden, so I face the task of removing some of the plants today, and no, I wont be using a chemical weedkiller I have found vinegar to be quite effective, although not instant.

Its a little early to head out into the garden, so I thought I would prepare a blog on the medicinal and culinary uses of dandelions. Read the rest of this entry »

The 12 things you should know about psychics

I really wanted to post this because I think it is so true and it is soemthing many people often forget. This was an original post by Adele Linsalata on Baltimore Psychic & Mediumship Examiner, For the original post :

Once again Many Thanks to Adele for saying it for all of us!

1. A psychic is just like you, everyone is born psychic.

2. A psychic loves the same things you do. To be with family, friends, reading a good book, getting their hair done, a walk in the park…

3. A psychic works with their intuition.

4. A psychic may have a part-time or full-time job working in main stream public. Not all psychics work full-time as a psychic.

5. A psychic may use tools; astrology, birth times, zodiac symbols, angel oracle cards or tarot in their readings with you.

6. A psychic is not a medium.

7. A psychic gives to you what they feel and know at that moment of time.

8. Not all psychics work in integrity, get to know the psychic before going to see them for a reading.

9. Not all psychics believe in angels & spirit guides.

10. A psychic is not an individual to live your life by, but can assist you in your life to live.

11. A psychic should never ask you for huge sums of money to get rid of negative energy or bad karma. No one can but you. Even if they sense it, they can only guide you as you are the only one who can get rid of anything negative.

12. A psychic might wear lots of jewelry or crystals, but do not be fooledin thinking they are any different, as they love beautiful things just like you.

Until next time…

Love, Laughter & Light, Adele

I love Blogging

I never thought I would love Blogging as much as I do. Over the years, I have accumulated a lot of knowledge and experience on many different subjects. I find blogging an effective way of sharing this knowledge in addition to expanding my own knowledge as I research many of my blog topics before posting the information. I have presented many short courses on a variety of topics and know that personal interaction is invaluable. For this reason, I would like to ask that if you have a specific question or would like to know more about a topic, please e-mail me. I’d prefer to answer the question in the form of a blog (because someone else may be asking the same question/s), but if you prefer to keep the correspondence private, just include in your e-mail that the communication is confidential. Of course, whatever knowledge I share has to be used in context with your own personal life, health and circumstances.

Aphrodisiacs and your Libido

We all know that certain foods rev up your sex life and some may dampen sex drive – high-carb meals like pasta will make you sleepy. Some foods have been scientifically proven to stimulate our systems, but others seem a little unusual. The list includes almonds, asparagus, avocadoes, caviar, celery, cheese, chili peppers, chocolates, cinnamon, figs, grapes, lobster, mushrooms, nutmeg, oysters and sardines.

Certain fragrances also enhance our sex life and libido. Certain scents overwhelmingly appeal to men and women when it comes to the romance department (be sure to only use natural fragrances made of pure essential oils, not synthetic fragrances or air freshners. The top romantic scents are black licorice, cinnamon, jasmine, lavender, orange, vanilla, Ylang Ylang.

Remember to always apply common sense when eating foodstuffs or using external products such as any of the fragrances listed above.
