6 Essentials for Life

I picked up a flyer the other day entitled “6 Essentials for Life - Your choices matter”. I’d like to share the 6 Essentials with you because I found the content both motivating and interesting. Unfortunately, the author’s name wasn’t on the flyer, but thank you for writing it.

The choices you make in six essential areas determine whether you follow a lifestyle that results in permanent good health or one that can lead to distress, illness, depression …. an unbalanced system that leads to disease. Read the rest of this entry »

Brainpower = limitless potential for learning, memory and creativity

Have you ever wondered how other “more intelligent/creative/brilliant” people think? How did Einstein think or Aristotle devised his theories, how did Michelangelo visualize his work and how did Beethoven figure out what to compose?

How do some people unlock their potential while others just don’t?

By its very design, the human brain has limitless potential for learning, memory and creativity. The brain needs to be used and exercised in order to make best use of its potential. We each need to explore the power of thought on our own.

Several strategies can be used to assist in exploring your brain power. Read the rest of this entry »

Feeling a little disconnected?

Whenever I feel a little disconnected, I take a few minutes out to do what I call my Elements Mantra.

I say a few times over “Earth is my Body, Water is my Blood, Air is my Breath, Fire is my Spirit”.

Connecting in this way, refreshes and calms me.

Improving Personal Relationships

We all worry about many things, some things are more topical than others, but one of the most frequent worries we all have, is about our relationships with our partner. There are many common factors that impact negatively on one’s relationships. Some of the reasons are:

  • Stress, depression, anxiety
  • Low self-esteem, poor body image
  • Lack of “connection” with your partner
  • Unresolved conflicts or poor communication with your partner
  • History of physical or sexual abuse
  • Menopause, pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Fatigue
  • Physical problems (sexual or medical)
  • Infidelity Read the rest of this entry »

“Fake it till you make it” – change of phrase

I usually research blog topics in order to offer balanced and comprehensive information and am always interested in my readers’ reactions and usage. I see the blog I wrote the other day about “Faking it till you make it” has been read by many people, so I thought I’d offer some more information and a different perspective.

I found the following definition of the phrase over the weekend: The phrase “fake it ’til you make it” expresses a simple wisdom about learning. If you don’t understand the “why,” sometimes you should “just do it,” and you’ll find it makes sense. “Motion precedes emotion” is another variant. (Charles Green)

I think the phrase can be measured against the Law of Attraction. You don’t always have to understand; just believe and allow whatever it is you want to manifest in your life.

There is a discussion to be had about the word “Fake” though because, when viewed in context of the Law of Attraction, it would be considered a negative word and therefore by thinking you’re faking something,  it will be fake.

So what do you do? Substitute the words “Fake it” with “Practice it” . So ”practice it, till you make it” would be the new phrase.

Aphrodisiacs and your Libido

We all know that certain foods rev up your sex life and some may dampen sex drive –  high-carb meals like pasta will make you sleepy. Some foods have been scientifically proven to stimulate our systems, but others seem a little unusual. The  list includes almonds, asparagus, avocadoes, caviar, celery, cheese, chili peppers, chocolates, cinnamon, figs, grapes, lobster, mushrooms, nutmeg, oysters and sardines.

Certain fragrances also enhance our sex life and libido. Certain scents overwhelmingly appeal to men and women when it comes to the romance department (be sure to only use natural fragrances made of pure essential oils, not synthetic fragrances or air freshners. The top romantic scents are black licorice, cinnamon, jasmine, lavender, orange, vanilla, Ylang Ylang.

Remember to always apply common sense when eating foodstuffs or using external products such as any of the  fragrances listed above.

Fake it till you Make it

fakeitmakeitThere’s a saying that goes, “Some days you’re the bug and some days you’re the windshield”. When you feel like the bug, what’s the best way to make it through the tough times? Fake it till you make it, is what I say. Develop an affirmation or a mantra for yourself and say it whenever you feel anxious, insecure or stressed. The affirmation can be as simple as reminding yourself that “I am happy, healthy and loved” or even “I rock!”. Read the rest of this entry »

Crystal Starter Pack – The Pack

I have listed a few crystals below that I believe make up a basic starter pack. You do not need to purchase every crystal – look through the list and see what you would like. You can, of course, buy any combination of crystals and build on that as you go. If your interest is specifically in Chakras and crystals, then the list of starter crsytals would not  be the same. I will post a starter pack specifically for chakras. Read the rest of this entry »

Mikao Usui’s Precepts and Mindfulness

Mikao Usui gave his students a special set of “precepts” to follow, which are now referred to as “The Reiki Precepts”. Precepts are a list of guidelines to follow for living your life. They can also be described as a set of ideals to work towards, recommendations about thought and behaviour that you should follow as much as you can.

The Reiki Precepts

  • Just for today – do not anger.
  • Just for today – do not worry.
  • Honour your teachers, parents and elders.
  • Earn your living honestly.
  • Show gratitude to all living things. Read the rest of this entry »

How does Reiki work?

Reiki is an ancient healing technique; which infuses life force energy to the receiver and often relieves pain, speeds up the healing process, reduces stress and revitalises the energy of the receiver.

When Reiki is transmitted through laying-on of hands in a treatment it stimulates life force energy in the receiver recharging their energy system.  Lack of vitality (chi or ki) is the main cause of dis-ease in the non-physical body in the same way lowered immune response is the physical reaction to manifested disease.  Laying-on of hands with Reiki stimulates life force energy facilitating the non-physical body’s full return to vitality and health.  It is the belief of many Reiki and holistic practitioners that dis-ease is manifested first on non-physical levels and is later manifested in the body so that when the subtle body or auric field is recharged, health can return to the physical body.  The Reiki practitioner draws the life force from the Universe and passes it onto the receiver; in the process both the practitioner and receiver draw in this healing energy from the electromagnetic field around them.
