Authentic Self
I read a quote today by Katie Couric that struck a chord deep within. I’ve always tried to stay true to my authentic self. I think sometimes people project things on you, but I’m trying to handle everything that’s happened to me with a certain amount of grace, dignity and good manners. You just can’t necessarily win all the time.
During my final year in school, my English teacher asked us to develop a quote that we would be happy to publish; Â mine was similar to the quote above. I said that “I want to live my life with grace and dignity, elegantly dressed and that the first wrinkles I got, would be laughter lines”. I certainly have the laughter lines, but my dress sense is eclectic rather than elegant and I must say that I find being graceful and dignified a little challenging sometimes! Reiki Precept-Be Kind To Every Living Creature
As Reiki begins to fill your life you will start to feel more and more connected to “All That Is”. As your consciousness is raised you become more aware that every living thing is a part of you, and that your are a part of it and that everything is a part of the Divine, God, the Source or whatever you choose to call it. The realisation will come that there is no place for prejudice, judgementalism, cruelty or indifference in a world where we are all connected, all a part of the whole, all One. All people, animals, birds, insects and plants – and even the planet itself – have a vital role to play and should therefore be valued, respected and treated with kindness. So just for today be kind to every living creature with all forms of living energies, and as a nurturing and loving experience for yourself.
My Reiki Experience (1)
You may have gathered by now that I have recently completed Reiki 1. I’m loving the additional balance and harmony.
As I have grown older and developed my skills, I have come to appreciate the many facets of life. I know my weaknesses and my strengths. By completing Reiki 1, I feel that I have an opportunity to work on some of my weaknesses. The first precept “Just for today – do not worry” is my starting point. I’m not an anxious person, but I do tend to worry sometimes. Read the rest of this entry »
Reiki Precept: “Earn Your Living Honestly”
Earning a living in this sense means all types of work, from paid employment and everyday tasks, like cooking a meal for ourselves or our families, to working on our self-healing with Reiki or on our self-development through meditation or reading inspirational books.
We often confuse what we do with who we are, taking our sense of identity from the kind of job we have – or do not have. What we need to remember is that we are human beings, not human doings. We are all valuable and special; every life, every person has a role to play in the whole and we all impact on each other in many different ways, so it is important to respect any work that we have chosen for ourselves and honour ourselves by doing our best to create a feeling of satisfaction in it. Reiki Precept “Honour Your Teachers, Parents and Elders”
This does not just mean honouring older people. It really means we should honour, respect and be grateful to everyone for the part they play in our lives – partners, friends, neighbours, colleagues, children, shop assistants, bus drivers – in fact every person we meet under any circumstances. All the people with whom you interact throughout your life are your teachers, whether you love them or loathe them, and every interaction is a potential learning experience because from a soul perspective all experiences, pleasant or unpleasant, contribute to the soul’s growth and development.
There is a saying “what goes around, comes around”, therefore as you honour and respect other people they will do the same for you too. Therefore, just for today honour and respect everyone you meet and value yourself for the important difference you make to the Universe too. Use Reiki and meditation to connect with the people who have been important in your life so far, to help to heal any past hurts or misunderstandings and to permeate all your future communications.

Reiki Precept "Just for Today – Do Not Worry"
W
orry is linked with our fear of the future and the unknown, and is our usual response to a “what if” scenario – to something which might occur, but which nine times out of ten does not. Worrying is another habit we get into, yet no matter how much of it you do the worrying itself will never achieve anything or change anything. Whatever problems or situations you are worried about – even issues such as serious health problems – if there is some action you can take to improve matters then take it, but if there is nothing you can do about it, then there is really no other option than to “let go and let flow”. Doing Reiki on yourself can help you to achieve a less anxious, more positive frame of mind. Read the rest of this entry »
Reiki Precept "Just for Today – Do Not Anger
Anger is such a destructive emotion, and often we use it against those people we care about the most, so it hurts us as much as it hurts them. Anger is often generated when someone or something fails to meet our expectations – or even more importantly when we do not come up to our own expectations. But anger rarely achieves anything other than to make you and others feel bad.
Reiki Precepts – Living in the Present
Just for Today – Living in the Present.
This line is not just preamble to the precepts: it is one of the most important phrases. “Just for Today” exhorts us to be fully engaged in the moment, to be mindful. All we have is now; our life consists of an endless stream of moments that we can only experience in the now. Now, is the only time which we have any control over. The past is gone and we can do nothing about it and the future is not here yet so there is no need to worry about it. The only gift of life we have is now. Living in the present gives opportunities for appreciation and wonderment, for truly experiencing whatever you are doing at any given moment. It is a Buddhist precept – being mindful. In other words, having your mind right here, right now, not allowing your thoughts to wander into memories of time gone by or imaginings of time to come.

Crystal Starter Pack – The Pack
I have listed a few crystals below that I believe make up a basic starter pack. You do not need to purchase every crystal – look through the list and see what you would like. You can, of course, buy any combination of crystals and build on that as you go. If your interest is specifically in Chakras and crystals, then the list of starter crsytals would not  be the same. I will post a starter pack specifically for chakras. Read the rest of this entry »
