How does Reiki work?
Reiki is an ancient healing technique; which infuses life force energy to the receiver and often relieves pain, speeds up the healing process, reduces stress and revitalises the energy of the receiver.
When Reiki is transmitted through laying-on of hands in a treatment it stimulates life force energy in the receiver recharging their energy system. Lack of vitality (chi or ki) is the main cause of dis-ease in the non-physical body in the same way lowered immune response is the physical reaction to manifested disease. Laying-on of hands with Reiki stimulates life force energy facilitating the non-physical body’s full return to vitality and health. It is the belief of many Reiki and holistic practitioners that dis-ease is manifested first on non-physical levels and is later manifested in the body so that when the subtle body or auric field is recharged, health can return to the physical body. The Reiki practitioner draws the life force from the Universe and passes it onto the receiver; in the process both the practitioner and receiver draw in this healing energy from the electromagnetic field around them.
Unlike other forms of hands-on healing, Reiki does not require any faith in a particular religion or dogma. It is used by Buddhists, Baptists, Catholics and Krishna’s, to name a few. It supports and assists the body in regaining and maintaining harmony and balance. Reiki does not drain practitioners of their energy because the energy applied to the subject in a treatment is of surrounding electromagnetic origin and not from the practitioners’ own personal resources. There is no need for the practitioners to hold any type of conscious belief for this system to be effective.
Reiki energy heals the whole person, by that we mean body, mind and spirit. In healing e.g. a headache, the practitioner’s hands are on the clients head, however many headaches have their source in the digestive system and so the energy would work its way to the intestines. Should the headache have emotional causes, e.g. stress, Reiki will heal on that level, likewise if the source of the pain is at the mental or spiritual level. Where orthodox medicine treats the symptom, Reiki treats the cause.
Reiki balances and strengthens not only the body’s energy – promoting its ability to heal itself – but also the mental and spiritual energy within us, from which many diseases originate, thus applying to both practitioner and client.
Reiki involves the use of unpolarised energy, which doesn’t interfere with any other healing system; therefore, Reiki greatly enhances the positive effects of other therapies. Seriously ill patients can continue to receive orthodox medical attention and use Reiki to maximise the chances of recovery. Reiki often reduces the side effects of drugs and radiation treatments.
Reiki actively promotes the healing process in many other areas. Sports injuries, cuts, bruises, internal diseases, emotional disorders and stress related illnesses are all dramatically helped by Reiki.
Reiki is a safe and nurturing energy which is highly effective in contributing to personal growth and healing. Reiki increases intuitive, intellectual and creative processes and has a similar physiological and psychological effect on the body to meditation.
