February was the Roman month of sacrifices and purification. The name was derived from the Latin word februa, signifying the festivals of purification celebrated in ancient Rome during this month. February was originally 29 days long, but one day was later transferred to the month of August.

According to COLORSTROLOGY, the month is February is characterised by the color, Sheer Lilac (Pantone 16-3617).

As part of our ongoing site development, I have (again) updated my Amazon Store. What this means is that I pick and choose selected books and other products that I like or think that you may like. I am always reading and sometimes read more than 1 book at a time. I have my favourites that I return to time and again. The carousel on the blog page lists my favourite books, while the store contains books and other items. As the order is placed through Amazon, you are assured of receiving the same good quality, secure payment and value for money that you would always receive from Amazon. We have created a tab specifically called “My Book Store” where you can easily access the book store.

The month of February will see me updating my products, the products tab and the descriptions. I prepare quite a lot of numerology reports, but often receive queries beforehand about the content, so I’ll be working on ways to better describe the products.

Another development goal for February is to work on answering Questions quicker. I get loads of questions via the Ask a Question tab. Some questions are quick to answer, but, when research is required, I sometimes battle to find the time – although those types of questions are the best – I learn and you learn, it’s what they call a win-win situation.

So it’s a good thing that the creative and ambitious energies of Aquarius will still be with us for a little while yet. I’m sure you can see the ambitious energy just flowing around me with all my site development plans.

February sees the zodiac signs of Aquarius and Pisces.

Aquarius (21 January – 18 February): Ruled by Uranus (Saturn in the ancient system). Aquarius is a fixed Air sign which means that Aquarius energy can be used to increase independence, friendship, creativity and detachment from emotional blackmail.

Pisces (19 February – 20 March): Ruled by Jupiter in the ancient system, now ruled by Neptune. Pisces is mutable Water sign. This energy can be used to develop spiritual awareness, intuition and divination involving water and the fulfilment of hidden dreams.

I received some interesting comments about my suggestion in January 2010  newsletter to steer clear of the word “resolutions” and rather use the term “short-term objectives”. Seems to have worked for some readers, while another reader sent a mail saying that one could call a horse by any other name, it would still be a horse.

The Festival of Imbolc  comes at the end of January (31 Jan – 2 Feb). The focus of the festival is new growth – bringing light into the darkness which symbolises the coming Spring. The energies of this seasonal festival bring about regeneration personally as well as for communities. Imbolc is sometimes referred to as Candlemas because the candles that would be used in Churches for the coming year were purified at the Feast of Candlemas on 1st February. Each person was given a blessed candle as a protector of their home against storms, floods and fires. The protection also defended cattle and crops. The festival is celebrated by leaving a lit candle in each window and allowing it to burn down completely overnight. For safety reasons, leaving a lit candle is not really sensible, so electric candles can be used as substitutes.

I’m sure you have seen that I’ve been posting blogs from COLORSTROLOGY – WHAT YOUR BIRTHDAY COLOR SAYS ABOUT YOU by Michele Bernhardt. This book is one of my favourites. I went into my local bookshop a few years ago to collect some books I had ordered. While I was waiting for the order to be packed, I browsed around the shop and found a rather tatty copy of COLORSTROLOGY. I looked through it, thought it was nice and put it back on the shelf. It was only when I got home that I realised what the book was actually about, I rushed back to buy it – negotiated a discount because it was tatty (it was a new book and the only copy on the shelf) and took it home. Since then, the book has travelled with me to a few different countries and has given many people an additional insight into their birth date. The book contains the profiles for 366 personal colors (which includes descriptive key words, personal profile and compatible birthdays) and 12 monthly colors. I have, of course, added this book to my book carousel on the blog.

Colorstrology combines astrology with intuitive wisdom and the metaphysical power of color to create a personal color for each day and month of the year…. there is a world of possibility contained in each day of birth… Your birthday carries a numerological vibration that has a very specific meaning…. it is important o understand that your birth color and your favourite color may not be one and the same. Your birth color honors the real you…” taken from the Introduction of the book, COLORSTROLOGY.

If you’re giving Roses for Valentine’s Day, it’s worth knowing what the different colours mean. Red may not be the obvious answer for Valentine’s, for example, giving or receiving a bouquet of red and white signifies unity – perhaps a more suitable expression of lasting love than red roses which symbolizes Love, beauty, courage and respect.

While we’re on the subject of flowers, this month’s birthflower is the violet and seeing that it is the month of romance, I think it worth reminding you of a simple little poem, Roses are red, violets are blue ……..

As always, thank you to my regular readers. I see that the Russian Federation overtook the UK in readership during the last week of January. January was the classic “bumper month” in terms of stats with everything growing. Most readers are spending upwards of 15 minutes per visit with a good proportion of readers spending more than an hour browsing. I’ve had some wonderful comments during the month (both with regard to blog content and the updated website) – thank you, and the amount of pingbacks and trackbacks (other sites linking mine to theirs) has also grown.

mixed rosesI hope you have a wonderfully romantic experience sometime this month – even if it’s not on Valentine’s Day.
