This is the fifteenth card in the Major Arcana and is numbered 14.
Divination:
Do not force people to accept your views immediately. Give them time. Till then, better to avoid debates and arguments. Common sense, compromise and a cool mind needed to overcome this situation. A moderate temperament reaps harmony, happiness and confidence.

This wonderful card often features a winged angel. In the Waite deck, the angel stands in a stream bordered by flowers, with the rising sun is shining in the background. In most decks, the figure pours liquid, the elixir of life from a golden vessel into a silver one in a continuous stream suggesting the interplay of the material and spiritual worlds and the eternal flow of the waters of life. Both the angelic figure in the cups are symbolic references to the feminine principle of cooperation, balance, harmony, receptivity and creativity.
Interpretation
Temperance, as its name suggests, is about moderation in all things. When Temperance appears in a reading, you are being cautioned to have patience, which may be difficult. However, the circumstances of your situation will teach you to wait calmly when it seems like nothing is happening.
The Querent who receives Temperance in a reading is not in a position to hurry matters along. The only course is to sit and wait for things to develop in their own time. The trick is to make the waiting constructor. Learning to do nothing to mindfully is a milestone on the spiritual path. There are times when nothing can be done and nothing needs to be done in certain situations. The word is Temperance is derived from the Latin temperare which means to moderate, blend or mixed together harmoniously. In earlier times of this card was named Time, which is a key to its underlying meaning.
Temperance is linked to the moon. Its number is 14 on the 14th day after the new moon the lunar orb is at the exact midway point of its monthly cycle.
Meaning
You are being asked to blame things in a harmonious way. You are learning to temper your ego with the legitimate needs of the spirit with them. This is a time of the inner growth and the outer harmony. With patience, you can unite the various elements, whether they are raw materials, resources, personal or ideas into a harmonious whole.
